Protocol is a personal branding platform for service businesses. It helps owners film videos and update their websites to reflect who they truly are, giving potential clients a way to learn about them before they call or book a meeting. Protocol Text is based in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Why Protocol exists

We believe buyers are more informed and skeptical, which makes transparency an important part of building a service business. Before someone buys from you, they may want to understand who you are, how you explain your work, and whether they feel comfortable contacting you.

That's the problem we're working on. We want to make it easier to put yourself online and allow people to form a connection with you far before they ever call.

A service description tells someone what you offer. A video of you explaining that service also lets them hear how you think and how you communicate. Those are useful things to know when they're deciding who to work with.

What personal branding means for a service business

Personal branding means helping people recognize and understand the person behind the business. For a local service operator, that can start with answering the same questions you already hear from potential customers.

You might explain what someone should know before booking, how you approach a particular part of your work, or why you started the business. The goal is to let people learn about you through explanations that sound like you.

You don't need to copy a large online personality. Your content needs to help the person considering your service. A clear answer to a real customer question gives that person something useful while introducing them to the way you work.

How video and your website work together

Protocol makes it easier to film videos and update your website so your online presence actually reflects who you are.

Video gives people a chance to hear your voice and see you explain something. Your website gives them a place to read about your services and learn more when they're ready.

For an owner reviewing their own content, a useful question is: would someone who has never met me understand what I do and get a sense of what a conversation with me would be like?

If the answer is unclear, start with one customer question you can answer directly. Record your explanation, then review the related website page. Make sure both give people a consistent understanding of your service.

What to expect from building that connection

Personal branding gives potential clients more opportunities to get familiar with you before making a purchasing decision. It doesn't mean every viewer will call, and you shouldn't expect results right away.

A practical starting point is to keep answering useful questions in your own words. Over time, those explanations give people more to learn from than a business name and a list of services.

That's what we want Protocol to support: making it easier for your online presence to reflect the person a client will actually speak with.
